Slash Riger MS
Initial Release: Fukubako 2005 Prize Beyblade (White, Secret Dark Blue)
Additional Releases: None.
Bit Protector - "Large Type"
Should be noted that BP Size Type on initial release is not consistent for every cycle of production or re-release. Being reproduced the following year could mean a different BP Size Type for a given Beyblade. In Slash Riger MS' case, it is unlikely it is anything but Large Type, since HMS wasn't in production long enough after its initial release to be re-released.
Attack Ring (AR)
Slash Upper, ~19g.
Given its release date, Slash Upper's weight is incredibly disappointing. 20g should've been standard by this point in HMS' life.
One of the few HMS ARs that has presented anything close to plastic's legitimate Upper Attack, alongside Circle Upper.
Unfortunately the most overhyped AR in the HMS series. Likely positively viewed because of its rarity/cost and aesthetically pleasing design. Unfortunately not every cool Beyblade is a good Beyblade.
Not a terrible Attack AR by any means, but its performance is quite middle of the road in scenarios where other legitimate top tier ARs perform well.
Had it a bit more weight, it would likely be a touch better, perhaps fully viable.
Decent enough Upward/Smash in both right-spin and left-spin, though right is normally preferred. In rare cases, it can exhibit legitimate Upper Attack in right-spin.
Finds a home alongside Jiraiya Blade and Metal Ape in Compact combos using Metal Change Core.
Best Possible Combo:
AR: Slash Upper (Right-Spin)
WD: CWD Defense Ring (with Metal CWD found in RBA2)
RC: Grip Flat Core (Ultimate Version)
Game Plan: Knock out opposing Beyblade with a decisive hit from Slash Upper. Not particularly difficult unless you're up against another Attack type or a solid Defense combo. Achieving a flower pattern via Slide/Catapult or Banking is nigh required for victory.
Weight Disk (WD)
CWD Free Crusher, ~18g.
Unfortunately, CWD Wing Attacker simply wasn't enough, apparently. More wings were necessary this time around.
Free Crusher suffers from all the same weaknesses as other gangly HMS components - stability issues, Smash Attack mitigation, low endurance.
While interesting and nice to look at, CWD Free Crusher has little place in any competitive combo, it is far too much of a liability. So, unless you like a challenge, staying away from these types of parts is a good rule of thumb.
Best Possible Combo:
AR: Slash Upper (Right-Spin)
WD: CWD Free Crusher
RC: Battle Change Core (Hole-Flat Mode)
Game Plan: This is an old-school combo that is probably the best way to fix CWD Free Crusher in place as much as legally possible. The upper slope of BCC stops CWD Free Crusher's wings from doing even a half-rotation, so it is as locked in place as it can get. The idea is that with it not being able to move that much, you can actually have some force behind its hits. While interesting, BCC is still just awful in controllability and grip, and the restricted CWD movement is not nearly enough to make up for CWD Free Crusher's innate issues. Honestly, the most entertaining part about this combo isn't its ability to knock things out (which it can barely do), but actually the ridiculous ways in which it manages to completely stop spinning after the first two hits. Sort of like if Ragdoll Physics was applied to Beyblade.
Running Core (RC)
Free Wing Core, ~7g.
One free-spinning part that is prone to self-harm on a single Beyblade wasn't going to cut it, according to Takara. I may have to do a wellness check on Slash Riger.
Free Wing Core is a rather tall RC with three wings that are able to not only spin freely, but move up and down. This streamlines the self-destruction process incredibly.
These wings aren't in a position where they can ever reliably make contact or destabilize the opposing Beyblade, and even if that were the case, since they are the equivalent of wet pool noodles, it wouldn't make much of a difference.
Stock Slash Riger MS is undoubtedly Takara's own "Full Send".
Best Possible Combo:
AR: Knight Crusher (Either Spin)
WD: CWD Free Crusher (with Metal CWD found in RBA2)
RC: Free Wing Core
Game Plan: Unfortunately, we miss out on the triple "Crusher" combo by using this RC. Since Free Wing Core RC is essentially useless competitively, I recommend anyone and everyone to send me what they consider to be the most "Full Send" combo with this RC that they can think of. I highly doubt this one listed here can be topped.
